He Can Keep You

1st Corinthians 6:20 (AMP): You were bought with a price [you were actually purchased with the precious blood of Jesus and made His own]. So then, honor and glorify God with your body.

I read this scripture again last week and the first line caught my attention: You were bought with a price

Picture spending your hard earned money to purchase a car, or a house for your use. You as the owner automatically become responsible for everything regarding that property. You clean it, you service it, you polish it, you install anti-theft features, you upgrade it occasionally and you generally keep it safe. You also show it off to friends and family and you guard it jealously.

Now think about yourself being bought with the valuable blood of Jesus.

So many times we worry a great deal about our lives, about our future, about our stand with God, about our health, about our purpose etc., forgetting that we do not own ourselves. We are not our owners. We belong to Jesus. He is more than capable of keeping us and charting the course for our lives. He can keep you from sin, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, want, failure, enemies, the devil, and so on. The list is endless.

It is not your place to worry about your life. The Lord Jesus went a great length to buy you to Himself, and the price He paid for you was His precious blood. He would not go to such a great length and then throw you to the wolves after purchasing you. If you an earthly owner of valuable properties take time to care for your properties, then you can safely trust that God will never leave you alone to be devoured by the elements or enemies.

Hebrews 13: 5b ‘…For God has said, “I will never leave you; I will never abandon you.” 6 Let us be bold, then, and say, “The Lord is my helper, I will not be afraid. What can anyone do to me?”

All you need to do is stay close to Him. Because unlike a car or a house, you on the other hand have something unique, and that is your FREE WILL. So even though you have been bought by Christ, it is up to you to either stay in Him, or get yourself entangled with the world.

1 John 5:18 (NLT) We know that God’s children do not make a practice of sinning, for God’s Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them.

John 15:4 (NIV) Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

So long as you abide in Christ, He will keep you and prosper your ways.

So fear not. And the next time the devil tries to plant worrisome thoughts about your life and your future in your mind, boldly resist the devil and the thoughts by this truth you know and say out loud; ‘I belong to Jesus! And He is more than able to keep me’
